I’m a big believer in volunteering. I always said that if I could make a decent living as a volunteer I’d quit my job tomorrow. One of the volunteer projects that I really want to do is Habitat For Humanity. I’ve never built a house before but armed with a pink hammer and some power tools I think I could help build a pretty awesome house for a deserving family. Someday I’ll get to do that.
For those in the Philadelphia area, you could change an entire community forever. Jon Bon Jovi’s Soul Foundation is partnering with Rebuilding Together to complete 30 homes and 1 playground in 3 days. They need your help.
No experience is necessary– just a desire to give back to the community and have fun! Breakfast, lunch, snacks, and an event t-shirt will be provided.
The event takes place Thursday, June 14th & Friday, June 15th from 8am-4pm, and Saturday, June 16th from 8am-1pm.
Renovations and construction will include a minimum of 30 homes, a community center focused on the environment, education, culture and food sustainability, and a new playground. Home projects will include variety of critical home repair needs: plumbing, roofing, energy-efficient upgrades, safe rails and doorways, accessibility modifications for people with disabilities, painting, exterior repairs and landscaping.
Please share this with anyone that might be in that area and let’s get our country back on track, one community at a time. If you or someone you know is helping out I’d love to hear about it. Come back and comment or e-mail me about doing a guest post.
