A Little Bit About Me:
I’m a woman with a full-time career and a mom with a full-time job. The career pays better but the benefits of the job are far superior.
I’m a tech writer with a background in education, journalism, communications, public relations, web design, writing, and retail operations.
My friends and my family mean the world to me and I’m very protective of them. You cross them, you’ve made an enemy for life. I’ve been lucky to have been gifted with the best friends anyone can ask for. They have remained with me even after I have relocated from NJ to FL. I miss them more and more each day. I will always be a Jersey Girl. FL is so overrated for so many reasons.
Shopping has been a love of mine all of my life and I’m always excited to check out new products, especially when they are going to make life easier. I even have an idea for a new product but have no idea what to do with that idea so I’m afraid it will never see the light of day.
I love doing volunteer work (at school, at sports organizations, in the local community-If I could make a living at it I would). I love to blog, decorate, go to the spa, read (mostly chic lit- no vampires or complicated mysteries for me) and I stay busy with my PTA, HOA and soccer/football team mom duties, monthly BUNCO group. Life is busy but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
A Little Bit About My Family:
I have been married to my wonderful husband, Ryan Reynolds, (obviously, not his real name but if I give him a new name I might as well give him the whole package) since 2000.
After many months of fertility treatments in 2003 we were blessed with a funny, smart son- Bruce (not his real name but, being from NJ, Bruce Springsteen is a given in our house and my son is a little rockstar) who is always a handful and already a catch with the ladies.
After several cocktails and 3.5 months of thinking I was just getting fat and old we found out that some things don’t always work the way the doctors swear it will. Fusspot joined our family the day before Bruce’s 8th birthday. She’s perfect and beautiful – even an unbiased person would agree. Apparently, February is a very fertile month even when you aren’t suffering from blizzards and cold weather.
Bruce wanted a brother but he’s totally in love with his little sister. His first reaction upon hearing it was a girl – he and his hand told us and the doctor “I don’t even want to discuss it – it’s still a boy.”
My mom is the reason we moved to FL. Our world was changed forever a few years ago when my mom was diagnosed with early Alzheimer’s at the age of 55. It has impacted all of our lives more than anything else ever could. I will share this struggle here too.
A Little Bit About My Blog:
Being a Tech Writer for so long it seems I have lost my original voice. It will be nice for me to stretch a little and get back to some of the lighter stuff that requires me to bring my personal experiences and thoughts to the table again.
Why the name? Well, I am a city girl and always will be. Not a nature lover and I refuse to catch my own dinner in the swamp. But here I am in Florida, where both of those traits are quite common. A fish out of water. I like concrete under my feet and hi-rise buildings. The hustle and bustle of the crowded city. An abundance of malls. The urgency in everything. So, I’ve been rather misplaced down here in the South.
You might not always agree with what I write (I might not even always agree with it). My goal here is not to convince you to think a certain way but rather to invoke your own passions and get people to discuss and share different ideas.
So PLEASE leave your comments and feel free to SHARE. It’s the only way I know you’re still with me out there!
